ElementGold Plus+ is an elemental food plus added high purity whole protein. It is used to provide quickly absorbed, low trigger nutrition that can be useful when working with gastrointestinal conditions or sensitivities.
It comes in varieties that vary protein (including a vegan version), flavour, and sweetener.
Why might you consider ElementGold Plus+?
If you suffer with Crohn's Disease, your healthcare profession may be considering a 'gut rest' diet where you would eat only an elemental food like ElementGold Plus+ usually for a period of one to three weeks. ElementGold Plus+ has been specifically formulated to provide the nutrition you need during this period1 but such use must be under the guidance of a medical professional.
1. ElementGold Plus+ conforms to the Food for Special Medical Purposes part of the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code including the sections making it suitable as the sole source of nutrition when used under the guidance of a medical professional.
- Trouble gaining or maintaining weight.
- Trouble chewing or swallowing.
- Situations where the desire to eat is low.
What does ElementGold Plus+ provide?
High Energy, Fast
ElementGold Plus+ provides around 2100 KJ (~500 kcal) per 325 mL serve with 15 mL of added fat (in the form of oil). This energy is absorbed rapidly with minimal effort from the body due to the broken down 'elemental' nature of the ingredients.
Minimised Tiggering
Carefully selected high quality ingredients to minimise triggering sensitive of compromised digestive symptoms. Ultra high purity proteins and vitamins and minerals in forms chosen to minimise triggering and maximise nutrient absorption.
Low FODMAP Certified Versions
All unsweetened versions of Element Gold Plus+ have been laboratory tested and certified Low FODMAP by Monash Low FODMAP4.
Great Taste
Elemental foods have traditionally stuggled to taste good which made it difficult to stick to gut rest diets or maintain regular use. Considerable care has been taken to develop flavours that taste great without compromising the quality of ingredients or balance of nutrients.
How do I use ElementGold Plus+?
Mixing a Serve
- Add 100 g (4 of the included scoop) of ElementGold Plus+ powder.
- Add 250 mL of cold water.
- Add up to 15 mL of suitable oil (such as MCT or flax seed) as a fat source.
- Add a suitable sweetener such as stevia to unsweetened versions (optional).
- Shake or blend (on low speed).
How Much Do I Need?
ElementGold Plus+ is food so the amount you need is based on how much energy you need. A serve (with fat added) is approximately a 2100 KJ or 500 kcal meal.
The number of serves you need in a day will be determined by how and why you are using an elemental food as well as personal factors such as age, gender, activity level and so on. Check with a healthcare professional if you are unsure.
A 1 Kg tub of ElementGold Plus+ contains 10 serves.
Can I Alter a Serve?
In some cases you can add or substitute ingredients but you may defeat the purpose of using an elemental food in some cases. Please check the Frequently Asked Questions section or consult your healthcare professional before deviating from a standard serve.
Which version of ElementGold Plus+?
There are currently 4 versions of ElementGold Plus+. All share the same vitamins, minerals, amino acids and nutrients with the following differences between varieties:
Protein
Three of the versions use an ultra-pure whey protein isolate and the vegan version uses protein isolated from rice. Read about the WPI used including
suitability for lactose senstitive situations on the FAQ page.
Sweeteners
The Chocolate version is pre-sweetened with some dextrose and fructose. As some sugars may be unsuitable for certain GI conditions, the unsweetened
versions allow a suitable sweetener to be added (such as stevia).
